The University of Portsmouth is very excited to welcome applications and Canadian students in September. The PGCE programs at Portsmouth offer excellent study and travelling experiences as part of a Teacher Education abroad for Canadian students wanting to study in England, particularly in the South of England. The University of Portsmouth is ranked in the top 10 in the UK for subject strength. Take the Secondary PGCE courses – rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted – in English, Maths, Geography, Languages, Science, History or PE and train to become a secondary school teacher.
Portsmouth is the Teachers College option for all CANTEACH students wanting to attend Teachers College in England. Studying in Portsmouth, allows students to live within 2 hours of London as a prime International cosmopolitan destination while participating in an excellent program in a mild UK climate and smaller centre that prepares students to become excellent teachers.
University of Portsmouth – School of Education; Primary & Secondary – early September start date; 1 year program
All students who inquire about Teachers College in England will be applying to the University of Portsmouth. This is for a variety of reasons:
1. Portsmouth welcomes applications from Canadian students
2. Portsmouth has excellent Teacher Education programs and has been ranked “Outstanding” by Ofsted.
3. Portsmouth has places available for CANTEACH students.
4. Arrive into Heathrow, and a short 2 hour busride drops you off in Portsmouth.
5. Portsmouth has a 1 year program for both Primary and Secondary.
6. Students attending Portsmouth have my support and I will be attending Certification workshops and visa as well as certification zoom sessions to transfer your certification back to ON/Canada.
7. All Portsmouth CANTEACH students will be obtaining a UK bank account, SIM card and bus pass on arrival.
8. Mike Johnson is available via cell/mobile, email, facebook and messenger when you are applying and attending.
9. Portsmouth will attend CANTEACH University visits to Canada/ON twice per year in March and October.

b) University of Portsmouth application instructions
Please read the AUT/CANTEACH instructions (above) before applying.
First you apply to Portsmouth online, create an account and upload your application e documents.
Applicants can apply for the PGCE Primary or Secondary
i. Upload all your documents ie. transcripts, resume, etc. to the online application and then send an email to Mike Johnson with all of the supporting docs attached including the CANTEACH Application Form confirming you have completed the on-line applications. The original transcripts and Police check paper copies will be submitted later (all applicants will email the supporting documents after submitting their application onilne).
References – Portsmouth requires you submit two (2) references for to be submitted on School/company letterhead.
